Wondering if you might benefit from therapy? Take a moment to answer the following questions:

1. Have you ever experienced any of the following?

  1. Inability to achieve restful sleep or waking up tired
  2. Feelings of sadness or crying spells, sometimes for no apparent reason
  3. Gaining or losing weight
  4. Lethargy / Lack of motivation
  5. Inability to experience joy or happiness
  6. Poor concentration

Answering "yes" to 3 or more of these questions could indicate clinical depression.

2. Do you find yourself...

  1. Critical of yourself and others?
  2. Seeing things in "black-and-white" absolutes?
  3. Predicting doom and gloom?
  4. Over-reacting to minor problems?
  5. Engaging in self-defeating behavior?
  6. Repeating the same behaviors / experiences over and over?

If you answered "yes" to 2 or more of these, therapy may help you to eliminate negativity in your life.

3. Have you ever...

  1. Felt guilt over drinking or using drugs?
  2. Continued to drink / use drugs despite negative consequences?
  3. Hid your drinking / drug use from others?
  4. Become defensive when others bring attention to your drinking / drug use?
  5. Tried to quit or control your substance use without success?

If you answered "yes" to one or more of these, you may have a substance abuse problem that could be helped by therapy.

4. Do you regularly experience...

  1. Irritability?
  2. Increased muscle tension?
  3. Trouble concentrating / focusing?
  4. Restlessness or inability to relax?
  5. Insomnia?
  6. Fatigue?

If you answered "yes" to one or more of these, you may benefit from therapy for stress management.

Test Yourself

Many people think that they just have to "live with" the problems in their lives. But solutions exist that can seriously decrease or eliminate many of the symptoms outlined in the self-assessment at left. If you are experiencing any of these problems, there is no reason that you have to keep living this way. Please contact me today or visit my services page to see how I can help you.
